Madisonville Miners Vanquish Paducah Chiefs In High-Scoring Affair

Both Madisonville Miners and Paducah Chiefs had their offenses going on Thursday at Elmer Kelley Stadium, but Madisonville Miners eventually prevailed 13-10. Madisonville Miners collected 13 hits, while Paducah Chiefs had 12.

Madisonville Miners came back to win despite trailing 10-3 in the sixth.

Madisonville Miners opened the scoring in the first after Kaden Ray homered to center field, scoring two runs.

Parker Price singled, which helped Paducah Chiefs tie the game at two in the top of the third.

Madisonville Miners took the lead in the bottom of the third. Fred Fernandez hit a solo home run to center field, to give Madisonville Miners the lead, 3-2.

Paducah Chiefs captured the lead, 5-3, in the top of the fourth when Colin McClure grounded out, scoring one run, and Will Gibbs singled, scoring two runs.

Paducah Chiefs scored five runs on five hits in the top of the sixth inning. Ayden Terry doubled, scoring two runs, Price doubled, scoring two runs, and Kyle Hayes hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Madisonville Miners scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Payton Stephenson doubled, scoring one run, Cason Troutman grounded out, scoring one run, Brady Cooper drew a walk, scoring one run, and Jace Parnin singled, scoring two runs.

Madisonville Miners jumped into the lead in the bottom of the seventh when Stephenson singled, scoring one run, Preston Bedford singled, scoring two runs, and Cooper hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run.

Brayden Taylor began the game for Madisonville Miners. The righty allowed six hits and five runs (four earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking four. Seth Harris stepped on the mound first for Paducah Chiefs. They gave up four hits and three runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking two. Luke Connors tossed three and two-thirds innings of zero-run ball for Madisonville Miners in relief. They allowed one hit, striking out one and walking none.

Madisonville Miners piled up 13 hits in the game. Nazhir Bergen, Parnin, Mason Pangborn, Stephenson, and Ray each collected two hits for Madisonville Miners. Parnin, Stephenson, Cooper, Bedford, and Ray each drove in two runs for Madisonville Miners. Pangborn led Madisonville Miners with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Madisonville Miners turned one double play in the game.

Paducah Chiefs tallied 12 hits in the game. Price provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Paducah Chiefs with three runs batted in. They went 2-for-5 on the day. Leadoff hitter Gibbs led Paducah Chiefs with three hits in five at bats. Terry and Luke Dymond each collected multiple hits for Paducah Chiefs. Paducah Chiefs turned one double play in the game.
