Hoptown Hoppers Rally Defeats Paducah Chiefs

A solo home run to right field by Parker Price put Paducah Chiefs on the board in the top of the first.

Paducah Chiefs extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the second thanks to RBI singles by Danny Rollins and Will Gibbs.

A single by Colin McClure extended the Paducah Chiefs lead to 4-0 in the top of the third inning.

Hoptown Hoppers tied the game up in the bottom of the seventh thanks to two ground outs. Hoptown Hoppers tied the game at four on a ground out by Ethan Landis.

Hoptown Hoppers captured the lead, 6-4, in the bottom of the eighth after Kolby Webb was struck by a pitch, and Brayden Eftink walked, each scoring one run.

Eftink stepped on the mound first for Hoptown Hoppers. The right-handed pitcher surrendered nine hits and four runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking one. Price stepped on the hill first for Paducah Chiefs. The lefty surrendered two hits and two runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking five. Sam Patrick and Harrison Waxley each threw shutout innings for Hoptown Hoppers in relief.

Grant Snider led Hoptown Hoppers with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. John Kiebler led Hoptown Hoppers with four walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting 12 walks for the game. Hoptown Hoppers turned one double play in the game. Hoptown Hoppers were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Webb had the most chances in the field with 11.

Paducah Chiefs collected 10 hits in the game. Number seven hitter, McClure, showed the depth of Paducah Chiefs's lineup, by leading them with three hits in four at bats. Rollins, Price, McClure, and Gibbs each drove in one run for Paducah Chiefs.

Next up for Hoptown Hoppers is a game at Fulton Railroaders on Thursday, and the Chiefs travel to Madisonville.
