Hoppers Fall To Miners 11-8 In Hoptown

Bats were blistered as Madisonville Miners defeated Hoptown Hoppers 11-8 on Saturday. Madisonville Miners collected 11 hits, while Hoptown Hoppers had 15.

Madisonville Miners got on the board in the top of the first inning after Pete Britton singled, scoring two runs, and a steal of home scored one run.

Madisonville Miners committed an error, which helped Hoptown Hoppers tie the game at three in the bottom of the third.

Hoptown Hoppers jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning after Madisonville Miners committed an error, and Jackson Vize hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring one run.

Madisonville Miners flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring six runs on seven hits to take a 9-5 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Parker Mathis that drove in two.

Schon Pespisa led things off on the bump for Madisonville Miners. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and three runs (two earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking three. Gavin Lake started on the mound for Hoptown Hoppers. They allowed six hits and seven runs over five innings, striking out five and walking two. Jace Parnin, Gabriel Eddington, Brock Tindle, and Luke Connors each threw shutout innings for Madisonville Miners in relief.

Madisonville Miners collected 11 hits in the game. Nazhir Bergen, Payton Stephenson, and Fred Fernandez each collected two hits for Madisonville Miners. Britton, Mathis, and Kaden Ray each drove in two runs for Madisonville Miners.

Hoptown Hoppers piled up 15 hits in the game. Harrison Waxley went 4-for-6 at the plate to lead Hoptown Hoppers in hits. Jordan Gonzalez and Vize each drove in two runs for Hoptown Hoppers. Caden Buxton, Hadley Smith, and Ruben Ogando each collected multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Gonzalez paced Hoptown Hoppers with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up eight walks for the game. Hoptown Hoppers turned one double play in the game.
