Henderson Flash's Late Push Leads To Victory Over Hoptown Hoppers
Henderson Flash defeated Hoptown Hoppers 5-4 on Thursday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the eighth when Ian Reagan grounded out, scoring one run.
A ground out by Brayden Eftink put Hoptown Hoppers on the board in the top of the first.
Colton Evans grounded out, which helped Henderson Flash tie the game at one in the bottom of the first.
Hoptown Hoppers took the lead in the top of the second. Preston Rager hit a solo home run to left field, to give Hoptown Hoppers the lead, 2-1.
Henderson Flash scored on a wild pitch, which helped Henderson Flash tie the game at two in the bottom of the fourth.
A ground out by Harrison Waxley gave Hoptown Hoppers the lead, 3-2, in the top of the fifth.
Henderson Flash took the lead in the bottom of the eighth inning after Nate York walked, Brock Lummus hit a sacrifice fly, and Reagan grounded out, each scoring one run.
Josh Kuhns earned the win for Henderson Flash. The reliever allowed zero hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking none. Tre Rex started on the mound for Henderson Flash. The left-handed pitcher allowed six hits and three runs (two earned) over four innings, striking out none and walking three. Eftink stepped on the bump first for Hoptown Hoppers. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and two runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking none. Logan Haslam threw two innings of no-run ball for Henderson Flash in relief. The right-handed pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking one.
Wyatt Bowling, Henderson Flash's number nine hitter, led the team with two hits in four at-bats. Reagan, York, and Lummus each drove in one run for Henderson Flash.
Hoptown Hoppers accumulated nine hits in the game. Eftink provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Hoptown Hoppers with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. John Kiebler led Hoptown Hoppers with four hits in five at bats. Kolby Webb collected two hits for Hoptown Hoppers in five at bats. Kiebler stole two bases. Hoptown Hoppers stole four bases in the game.
Next up for Henderson Flash is a game at Paducah Chiefs on Friday, while the Hoppers are off on Friday before heading to Madisonville Saturday night.
