Braden Pingel’s Big Day Propels Hoptown Hoppers Past Henderson Flash
Braden Pingel collected three hits in five at bats, as Hoptown Hoppers defeated Henderson Flash 10-4 on Saturday. Pingel tripled in the fifth inning, singled in the eighth inning, and singled in the third inning.
Hoptown Hoppers were the first to get on the board in the second when Jackson Vize was struck by a pitch, driving in a run.
Hoptown Hoppers added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after John Kiebler tripled, and Hadley Smith grounded out, each scoring one run.
Henderson Flash tied the game in the top of the seventh thanks to a double by Ian Reagan, a single by Dane DeWees, and a single by Aidan Mouton.
Hoptown Hoppers took the lead in the bottom of the seventh. One run scored on another play, to give Hoptown Hoppers the upper hand, 5-4.
Hoptown Hoppers scored five runs on three hits in the bottom of the eighth inning. Max Martin singled, scoring one run, Dom Davis doubled, scoring two runs, Pingel singled, scoring one run, and a steal of home scored one run.
Gavin Lake opened the game for Hoptown Hoppers. They surrendered six hits and four runs (three earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one. Brady Watts stepped on the hill first for Henderson Flash. The starting pitcher surrendered three hits and three runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one. Graham Kelham and John McGee each threw shutout innings for Hoptown Hoppers in relief.
Hoptown Hoppers collected nine hits in the game. Kiebler and Davis each drove in two runs for Hoptown Hoppers.
Nate York, Amir Gray, Mouton, Reagan, DeWees, and Logan Lacey each collected one hit for Henderson Flash. Mouton, Reagan, and DeWees each drove in one run for Henderson Flash.
Next up for Hoptown Hoppers is a game at Madisonville Miners on Monday, and the Flash host the Paducah Chiefs on Sunday at 6pm.
