Paducah Chiefs Cannot Hold Onto Lead Versus Hoptown Hoppers
Paducah Chiefs jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Kyle Hayes doubled, scoring two runs, Cadwell Turner grounded out, scoring one run, and Nathan Lang grounded out, scoring one run.
Hoptown Hoppers captured the lead, 7-5, in the top of the seventh after Caden Buxton walked, Devin Kiebler walked, Gavin Lake grounded out, and John Kiebler singled, each scoring one run.
Easton Barnett earned the win for Hoptown Hoppers. The righty gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Joe Peca started on the mound for Paducah Chiefs. The starting pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking two. Brayden Eftink began the game for Hoptown Hoppers. They gave up six hits and five runs (four earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking two. Harrison Waxley earned the save.
Hayes provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Paducah Chiefs with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-4 on the day. Will Gibbs, Hayes, and Colin McClure each collected two hits for Paducah Chiefs.
Kiebler led Hoptown Hoppers with two runs batted in. The infielder went 3-for-5 on the day. Ruben Ogando and Lake each collected multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Kiebler paced Hoptown Hoppers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying eight walks for the game.
Next up for Paducah Chiefs is a game against Madisonville Miners in Paducah on Sunday, and the Hoppers host the Fulton Railroaders on Sunday.
