Two Paducah Chiefs Pitchers Team Up In Shutout Victory Against Franklin Duelers
Paducah Chiefs defeated Franklin Duelers 10-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Austin Brewington induced a double-play from Jay Curtis to finish off the game.
Paducah Chiefs opened up scoring in the first inning when an error scored one run for Paducah Chiefs.
Paducah Chiefs tallied three runs in the second inning. Paducah Chiefs' big bats in the inning were led by a single by Austin Krider and a sac fly by Kyler Carmack.
One bright spot for Franklin Duelers was a single by Mark Castle in the sixth inning.
Colin Murphy took the win for Paducah Chiefs. The fireballer surrendered zero runs on one hit over seven innings, striking out six. Brewington threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Reid Howard took the loss for Franklin Duelers. The pitcher lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and seven runs while striking out one.
Paducah Chiefs saw the ball well today, racking up 14 hits. Slater Schield, John Orberson, Elijah Brooks, and Krider each racked up multiple hits for Paducah Chiefs. Orberson and Schield each collected three hits from leading Paducah Chiefs. Paducah Chiefs tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Brooks led the way with two.
