Owensboro RiverDawgs Holds Off Paducah Chiefs For Victory

Owensboro RiverDawgs built a five-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off Paducah Chiefs' charge for a 6-5 victory on Saturday. Paducah Chiefs scored four runs in the failed comeback on a sacrifice fly by Garrett Smith in the seventh, a single by Austin Krider in the eighth, and a fielder's choice by Zach Hayes in the eighth.

Paducah Chiefs scored three runs in the eighth inning, but Owensboro RiverDawgs still managed to pull out the victory. The big inning for Paducah Chiefs came thanks to a single by Krider and a fielder's choice by Hayes.

Owensboro RiverDawgs opened up scoring in the second inning, when Ryan Robinson singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.

Garrett Whitticker earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Owensboro RiverDawgs. The pitcher allowed six hits and two runs over six and a third innings, striking out six. Preston Franey threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Franey recorded the last eight outs to earn the save for Owensboro RiverDawgs.

Ben Hargrove took the loss for Paducah Chiefs. Hargrove surrendered five runs on five hits over three and a third innings, striking out three.

Owensboro RiverDawgs collected seven hits on the day. Ethan Plyer and Robinson all managed multiple hits for Owensboro RiverDawgs. Robinson and Plyer each collected two hits to lead Owensboro RiverDawgs.

Paducah Chiefs had eight hits in the game. Kyler Carmack, Colby Morse, and Krider all had multiple hits for Paducah Chiefs.
