Fulton Railroaders Nearly Erases 4-Run Deficit In Loss To Franklin Duelers

Franklin Duelers built a four-run lead in the seventh inning and then held off Fulton Railroaders' charge for a 5-4 victory on Friday. Fulton Railroaders scored three runs in the failed comeback on a home run by Parker Estes in the eighth, a double by Aiden Cloud in the ninth, and a walk by Braxton Baird in the ninth.

Franklin Duelers got things started in the first inning. Johnathon Evans hit a solo homer.

Joel Martinez was the winning pitcher for Franklin Duelers. The hurler lasted five innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out seven and walking one. Reid Howard, Mark Castle, and Gage Coffman all put in work in relief out of the bullpen, steering their team towards the victory. Castle recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Franklin Duelers.

Tommy Johnson took the loss for Fulton Railroaders. The bulldog allowed six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out two.

Franklin Duelers tallied one home run on the day. Evans had a long ball in the first inning.

Sam Slaughter led Franklin Duelers with two hits in three at-bats.

Fulton Railroaders was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Brady Holloway had the most chances in the field with 12.
