Muhlenberg County Stallions Clinches Lead In Seventh Inning For Victory Over Madisonville Miners

Muhlenberg County Stallions defeated Madisonville Miners 9-6 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at six with Muhlenberg County Stallions batting in the bottom of the seventh when Kevin Sosa singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Muhlenberg County Stallions collected ten hits and Madisonville Miners had nine.

Madisonville Miners opened up scoring in the first inning. Reed Latimer drove in one when Latimer singled.

After Madisonville Miners scored two runs in the top of the fourth, Muhlenberg County Stallions answered with two of their own. Madisonville Miners scored when Will Gibbs doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run and Brennen Hunt singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. Muhlenberg County Stallions then answered when Tanner Bray homered on a 3-0 count, scoring two runs.

Jordan Schaefer pitched Muhlenberg County Stallions to victory. The righty went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out three, and walking one. Peyton Burton and Isaac Rose entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Burton recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Muhlenberg County Stallions.

Jack Hall took the loss for Madisonville Miners. The right-hander surrendered two runs on zero hits, walking one.

Riley Harris started the game for Madisonville Miners. The righty went four innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and striking out five Eric Panjwani started the game for Muhlenberg County Stallions. The southpaw allowed eight hits and six runs over four innings, striking out three and walking zero

Muhlenberg County Stallions socked two home runs on the day. Bray went yard in the fourth inning. Colin Cornwell went deep in the first inning.

Muhlenberg County Stallions totaled ten hits. Cornwell and Sosa all had multiple hits for Muhlenberg County Stallions. Sosa and Cornwell each collected two hits to lead Muhlenberg County Stallions.

Hunt led Madisonville Miners with four hits in five at-bats.
