Madisonville Miners Fights Back In Loss To Dubois County Bombers
Madisonville Miners fought back after falling down by five runs in the fifth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 7-5 defeat to Dubois County Bombers on Saturday. Madisonville Miners managed three runs in the failed comeback. Calyn Halvorson, Will Gibbs, and Brennon Williams each picked up RBIs.
Dubois County Bombers fired up the offense in the first inning. Mason Landers drove in one when Landers singled.
Dubois County Bombers pulled away for good with six runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Guy Lipscomb singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs, Landers singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, and Brayden Childress homered on a 2-0 count, scoring three runs.
Conner Fries earned the victory on the hill for Dubois County Bombers. The pitcher lasted five innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out four. David Ellison threw four innings in relief out of the bullpen. Ellison recorded the last 12 outs to earn the save for Dubois County Bombers.
Wyatt Griskey took the loss for Madisonville Miners. Griskey surrendered seven runs on seven hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four.
Madisonville Miners tallied one home run on the day. Williams went for the long ball in the sixth inning.
Gibbs went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Madisonville Miners in hits. Madisonville Miners didn't commit a single error in the field. Justin Lauersdorf had the most chances in the field with 11.
Landers led Dubois County Bombers with three hits in five at bats. Dubois County Bombers didn't commit a single error in the field. Tyler Kapust had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
