Dubois County Bombers Sets The Stage For Victory With Early Lead Over Paducah Chiefs
Dubois County Bombers grabbed an early lead on its way to a 10-6 victory over Paducah Chiefs on Monday. Dubois County Bombers scored on a single by Drew Taylor, a single by Kevin Butler, a single by Tucker Schank, and a wild pitch during Guy Lipscomb's at bat in the second inning.
Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Dubois County Bombers collected eight hits and Paducah Chiefs had ten.
After Paducah Chiefs scored two runs in the top of the eighth, Dubois County Bombers answered with two of their own. Paducah Chiefs scored when Brandon Hager doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs. Dubois County Bombers then answered when Schank singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Dubois County Bombers pulled away for good with five runs in the second inning. In the second Taylor singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Butler singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, Schank singled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs, and an error scored one run for Dubois County Bombers.
Paducah Chiefs scored three runs in the third inning. Brant Brown, Zach Reynolds, and Jacob Hager each drove in runs during the inning.
Conner Fries pitched Dubois County Bombers to victory. Fries surrendered four runs on nine hits over six innings, striking out six. David Ellison and Carter Stamm entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Mason Malone took the loss for Paducah Chiefs. The righthander went six innings, allowing seven runs on five hits, striking out three and walking one.
Dubois County Bombers smacked one home run on the day. Taylor had a four bagger in the sixth inning.
