Banyon's Walk-Off Gives Hoptown Hoppers Victory Over Paducah Chiefs
It came down to the wire on Sunday, with Hoptown Hoppers taking victory on a dramatic walk-off fielder's choice in the late innings that sealed their victory over Paducah Chiefs. The game was tied at 11 with Hoptown Hoppers batting in the bottom of the ninth when Elijah Longshore induced Benjamin (B.J.) Banyon to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.
Tanner Holliman led Hoptown Hoppers to victory by driving in five runs. Holliman went 2-for-4 at the plate. Holliman drove in runs on a single in the sixth and a home run in the seventh.
Paducah Chiefs opened up scoring in the second inning when Drew Hudson was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.
Chase Gruno was the winning pitcher for Hoptown Hoppers. The righthander allowed zero hits and zero runs over one-third of an inning, striking out one and walking zero. Colby Downard and Campbell Cleveland entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
