Hoptown Hoppers wins contest against Henderson Flash, 5-2
In the first inning, Henderson Flash got their offense started when Nick Rucker singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.
After Henderson Flash scored one run in the top of the fourth, Hoptown Hoppers answered with one of their own. Henderson Flash scored when Cody Schultz doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Hoptown Hoppers then answered when Jojo Cruz grounded out, scoring one run.
Hoptown Hoppers pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Jake Parr doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run, Tanner Holliman doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, and Cruz grounded out, scoring one run.
Colby Downard took the win for Hoptown Hoppers. The southpaw surrendered zero runs on two hits over three innings, striking out six. Landon Choboy and Chase Gruno entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Gruno recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Hoptown Hoppers.
Ethan Cartwright took the loss for Henderson Flash. The pitcher lasted two innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out one.
