Franklin Duelers Falls To Madisonville Miners After Fifth Inning Score

Franklin Duelers lost the lead late in a 16-4 defeat to Madisonville Miners on Wednesday. The game was tied at two with Madisonville Miners batting in the top of the fifth when Freddie Reams homered on a 1-0 count, scoring four runs.

The Franklin Duelers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Madisonville Miners, giving up 16 runs.

In the second inning, Franklin Duelers got their offense started when Nate Mix's sac fly scored one run for Franklin Duelers.

Franklin Duelers knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jacob Curtis hit into a fielder's choice, scoring one run.

Madisonville Miners scored eight runs in the sixth inning. The big inning for Madisonville Miners came thanks to singles by Justin Ramirez and Will Gibbs and home runs by Reams and Reed Latimer.

Nick Lallathin led things off on the pitcher's mound for Madisonville Miners. The lefty lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing seven hits and four runs while striking out one.

Jake Ferguson started the game for Franklin Duelers. Ferguson allowed six hits and six runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Steven Haden, Zach Sliger, and Tristan Toelle each contributed in relief for Franklin Duelers.

Madisonville Miners launched three home runs on the day. Latimer had a homer in the sixth inning. Reams had a long ball in the fifth and sixth innings.

Benny Hymes went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Franklin Duelers in hits.

Madisonville Miners racked up 16 hits. Latimer, Reams, Calyn Halvorson, Ramirez, Brennen Hunt, and Gibbs all collected multiple hits for Madisonville Miners.
