Early Lead For Hoptown Hoppers Seals Fate For Paducah Chiefs

Paducah Chiefs watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 5-3 loss to Hoptown Hoppers on Saturday. Hoptown Hoppers scored on a double by Ben Huber in the first inning and a stolen base by Brant Husser in the second inning.

Hoptown Hoppers got things moving in the first inning. Huber drove in one when he doubled.

Drew McGowan earned the win for Hoptown Hoppers. He allowed six hits and three runs over six innings, striking out three. Chandler Kendall and Brennan Crooms entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. Crooms recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Hoptown Hoppers.

Hale Sims took the loss for Paducah Chiefs. He allowed five hits and four runs over three innings, striking out three.

Paducah Chiefs collected seven hits. Lofton Pigg and John Michael Russ all had multiple hits for Paducah Chiefs. Pigg led Paducah Chiefs with three hits in four at bats. Paducah Chiefs didn't commit a single error in the field. Pigg had the most chances in the field with nine.

Hoptown Hoppers saw the ball well today, racking up ten hits in the game. Husser, Cameron Hill, and Jacob Jenkins each racked up multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Jenkins led Hoptown Hoppers with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with nine stolen bases.
