Hoptown Hoppers Grabs Lead In Seventh Inning To Defeat Paducah Chiefs
Hoptown Hoppers snagged a late lead and defeated Paducah Chiefs 8-7 on Friday. Hoptown Hoppers was down 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Charlie Fischer homered on a 3-1 count, scoring four runs.
Fischer led Hoptown Hoppers to victory by driving in four runs. He went 3-for-4 at the plate. Fischer drove in runs on a grand slam in the seventh.
Paducah Chiefs fired up the offense in the first inning, when Alan Roden singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs.
Ben Huber was the winning pitcher for Hoptown Hoppers. He went three innings, allowing zero runs on one hit, striking out three and walking one. Brennan Crooms threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Crooms recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Hoptown Hoppers.
Pete Hansen took the loss for Paducah Chiefs. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on two hits and striking out two.
