Franklin Duelers Struggles To Find Groove Against Hoptown Hoppers

Franklin Duelers couldn't keep up with Hoptown Hoppers and fell 13-3 on Sunday.

In the second inning, Franklin Duelers got their offense started. Daniel O'Reilly drove in one when he doubled.

After Hoptown Hoppers scored one run in the top of the seventh, Franklin Duelers answered with one of their own. Hoptown Hoppers scored when Chandler Kendall singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run. Franklin Duelers then answered when Hunter Arnold threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Franklin Duelers.

Hoptown Hoppers took the lead for good with seven runs in the fifth inning. In the fifth Ben Huber singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs, Kendall singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, and Greg Mehlhaff homered on a 2-1 count, scoring four runs.

Clay Simpson led the Hoptown Hoppers to victory on the pitcher's mound. He went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and striking out four. Arnold and Brant Husser entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Wyatt Griskey took the loss for Franklin Duelers. He went two-thirds of an inning, allowing seven runs on four hits.

Branon Pope started the game for Franklin Duelers. He allowed one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out three and walking zero

O'Reilly went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Franklin Duelers in hits.

Hoptown Hoppers totaled 13 hits in the game. Kendall, Huber, Micah Genter, and Jacob Jenkins all had multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Kendall led Hoptown Hoppers with four hits in five at bats. Hoptown Hoppers didn't commit a single error in the field. Jordan Wendel had the most chances in the field with seven. Genter led Hoptown Hoppers with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with four stolen bases.
