Paducah Chiefs Claims Lead In Eighth Inning To Defeat Franklin Duelers

Paducah Chiefs stole the lead late and defeated Franklin Duelers 7-6 on Sunday. The game was tied at six with Paducah Chiefs batting in the bottom of the eighth when John Michael Russ singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Paducah Chiefs earned the victory despite allowing Franklin Duelers to score four runs in the third inning. James Marcinkowski, Orlando Arevalo, and Trejen Birdwell each drove in runs during the inning.

Paducah Chiefs knotted the game up at six in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Branon Pope threw a wild pitch allowing one run across the plate for Paducah Chiefs.

After Franklin Duelers scored two runs in the top of the sixth, Paducah Chiefs answered with two of their own. Franklin Duelers scored when Birdwell doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. Paducah Chiefs then answered when Pierce Mitchum singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

Brady Austin was credited with the victory for Paducah Chiefs. He went three innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and striking out five. Noah Farmer and Mitch Turner entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Pope took the loss for Franklin Duelers. He went one and one-third innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out one and walking zero.

Eli Campbell started the game for Paducah Chiefs. He went two and a third innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out one Trevor Beards started the game for Franklin Duelers. He went five innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out two

Paducah Chiefs had 13 hits in the game. Mitchum, Lofton Pigg, Russ, and Carson Shacklett each had multiple hits for Paducah Chiefs. Mitchum led Paducah Chiefs with four hits in five at bats.

Franklin Duelers scattered seven hits in the game. Arevalo and Marcinkowski each collected multiple hits for Franklin Duelers. Franklin Duelers stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Ethan Shelton led the way with two.
