Hoptown Hoppers Loses Lead Early In Defeat

Hoptown Hoppers fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 19-6 loss to Franklin Duelers on Sunday. Franklin Duelers scored on a walk by Joey Fletcher, a walk by Tim Blankenberger, a groundout by Jared Cox, and a single by Sean Becker in the first inning.

Despite the loss, Hoptown Hoppers did collect 13 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Franklin Duelers had 13 hits on the way to victory.

Franklin Duelers got on the board in the first inning. Fletcher drew a walk, scoring one run.

Hoptown Hoppers put up four runs in the third inning. Hoptown Hoppers batters contributing to the big inning included Drew McGowan, Jacob Jenkins, Robbie McCargar, and Charlie Fischer, who all drove in runs.

Franklin Duelers scored six runs in the sixth inning. Franklin Duelers big bats were led by Travis Faix, Fletcher, and Orlando Arevalo, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Trevor Beards was credited with the victory for Franklin Duelers. He allowed 12 hits and six runs over five innings, striking out seven and walking zero. Brant Alazaus threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Clay Simpson took the loss for Hoptown Hoppers. He allowed four hits and ten runs over three and a third innings, striking out four.

Hoptown Hoppers tallied 13 hits. Cameron Hill, Michael Conn, Fischer, Jenkins, and Micah Genter each racked up multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers. Hill went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Hoptown Hoppers in hits.

Franklin Duelers racked up 13 hits. Becker, Fletcher, Arevalo, and James Marcinkowski all managed multiple hits for Franklin Duelers. Franklin Duelers was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Blankenberger had the most chances in the field with nine.
