Owensboro RiverDawgs lost the lead late in a 3-2 defeat to Hoptown Hoppers on Friday. The game was tied at two with Hoptown Hoppers batting in the top of the eleventh when Nick Proto hit a solo homer.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Hoptown Hoppers' pitchers struck out 17, while Owensboro RiverDawgs sat down 13.

In the second inning, Owensboro RiverDawgs got their offense started. Owensboro RiverDawgs scored one run when Matt Jewell singled.

In the top of the eighth inning, Hoptown Hoppers tied things up at two when MJ Rookard laid down a sacrifice bunt, scoring one run.

Hassan Westbrook earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for Hoptown Hoppers. He went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out six, and walking one. Trey Fields and Cody Hartness entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Thomas Cessna took the loss for Owensboro RiverDawgs. He went two innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out three, and walking zero.

Reece Calvert started the game for Owensboro RiverDawgs. He lasted nine innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out ten and walking one Brian Coffey started the game for Hoptown Hoppers. He allowed six hits and two runs over six innings, striking out eight and walking one

Hoptown Hoppers smacked two home runs on the day. Proto had a dinger in the eleventh inning. Rookard had a homer in the sixth inning.

Owensboro RiverDawgs had seven hits in the game. Spencer Deom and Jewell all managed multiple hits for Owensboro RiverDawgs. Jewell and Deom each managed two hits to lead Owensboro RiverDawgs.

Hoptown Hoppers tallied six hits. Matt Keane and Proto all collected multiple hits for Hoptown Hoppers.
