Homan Collects Four Hits As Paducah Chiefs Defeats Fulton Railroaders
Reid Homan got busy on the basepaths on Friday, knocking four hits in Paducah Chiefs's 19-3 victory over Fulton Railroaders. Homan doubled in the second, singled in the sixth, singled in the seventh, and tripled in the eighth.
Fulton Railroaders opened up scoring in the first inning. Conner Brandon tripled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the third inning, Paducah Chiefs tied things up at three when Nick Shumaker singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run.
Paducah Chiefs pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Kevin Brenning singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run, Shumaker grounded out, scoring one run, and Clayton Stephens's sac fly scored one run for Paducah Chiefs.
Paducah Chiefs put up six runs in the eighth inning. Paducah Chiefs batters contributing to the big inning included Peyton Sockwell, Shumaker, Homan, and Kyle Antos, who all drove in runs.
Caleb Reinhardt was credited with the victory for Paducah Chiefs. He lasted seven and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out nine and walking one. Teal Young threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Austin Mabry took the loss for Fulton Railroaders. He went five innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits, striking out two and walking one.
Paducah Chiefs tallied 24 hits on the day. Sockwell, Homan, Jacob Hartline, Shumaker, Brandon Kelly, Tyler Hubbard, Brenning, and Antos all had multiple hits for Paducah Chiefs. Sockwell led Paducah Chiefs with five hits in six at-bats. Paducah Chiefs was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Antos had the most chances in the field with 11.
Noah Haupt went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Fulton Railroaders in hits.
