The Dubois County Bombers defeat the Hoptown Hoppers, 2-1

In 10 innings. (From Dubois County) The Dubois County Bombers guaranteed themselves a second consecutive winning season with a split of a double header against the league-leading Hoptown Hoppers.

Game one took extra innings before it was decided. Mark Giesler was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the home tenth inning to secure the victory. The contest had primarily been a pitching duel until that point.

Hoppers starter Seth Oliver scattered five Dubois County hits through six frames, holding the hosts to a single run.

Bombers starter Jay Prior only gave up two hits in eight innings of work, pitching out of several Hopper threats created by a porous Bomber defense that committed six errors.

Tied 1-1 after the scheduled seven innings, the game went extras. Neither team threatened in the 8th or 9th innings.

Trey Fulton led off the Bomber 10th with a walk. Zack Gray followed with a single. Matt Poland was hit by a pitch to load the bases with nobody out. Austin Hearn then hit Giesler as well to force in the winning run.

Michael Rodriguez singled three times to key the Bomber offense. Prior and reliever Fabian Reyes held the powerful Hoppers offense without an extra base hit, yielding but three singles.

The win is Reyes' first decision of the season. Hearn takes the loss. His record drops to 1-2.
