The Owensboro Oilers defeat the Fulton Railroaders, 12-10
In 10 innings. (From Fulton) The Oilers broke an extra inning tied game to win over the Railroaders in Fulton. Owensboro had 11 hits total, left 10 men on base and had 3 game errors. Fulton totaled 13 hits, stranded 9 runners and committed 2 errors.
Owensboro jumped to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning. Both teams scored a single run in the third. The Oilers added another run in the fourth and the Railroaders answered in the bottom half putting up 4 runs to tie the game at 5 each.
In the top of the fifth inning Owensboro retook the lead scoring 2 runs, but Fulton answered quickly in the bottom half scoring 3 runs to take an 8-7 lead.
The Oilers proceeded to score single runs in the sixth through eighth innings to take a 10-8 lead. In the bottom half of the eighth the Railroaders tied the game again with 2 scores. Both teams were held scoreless in the ninth inning.
Top of the tenth, lead off batter Nick Lugo made first base hit by pitch. Seth Woodard followed with a 2 RBI homerun to give Owensboro the lead once more. Hector Marmal, in his second inning of relief, then retired the Railroaders with three straight strikeouts to take the win for the Oilers.
Woodard led the Oilers going 3-for-6 with 3 RBI and scoring 2 runs. Lugo was 1-for-2, walked 3 times, stole 4 bases and crossed the plate 4 times to help the effort.
For the Railroaders; Chase Slone 3-for-6 with 3 RBI and one score, Paul Salata went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and one score, and Tyler Catlett was 3-for-4 and scored 3 runs.
Tyler Magley takes the loss for Fulton pitching the final inning tagged with the 2 RBI homerun.
