The Madisonville Miners defeat the Fulton Railroaders, 21-8
(From Madisonville) The Miners spotted the Railroaders a 5-1 lead after two innings and then roared back to claim a 21-8 victory on Sunday night. The Miners banged out 18 hits and committed two errors, while the Railroaders collected 12 hits and four errors.
The Miners were paced at the plate by Wesley Birchmeier, who went 4-for-6 with 4 runs scored and 5 runs batted in. Nolan Ramsey and Dominic DeVille had three runs batted in a piece, with Collin Dupree adding two runs batted in. Genesis Hillard and Brandt Nowaskie added one run batted in each.
Chase Slone led the Railroaders with a 5-for-5 night, scoring two runs and driving in four. Paul Salata added two solo home runs, and Andrew Swanson and Zach Bishop drove in one run each.
Dylan Ladd picked up the Win for the Miners, his first of the season. Ladd relieved starter Jose Fernandez with two out in the top of the fourth and pitched another three complete innings from there, allowing 2 hits, 1 earned run, and striking out 6 Railroaders. Mike Ringer and Wesley Birchmeier each pitched an inning to close out the ballgame.
Matt Meihls got the start and the Loss for the Railroaders. Meihls surrendered 12 runs (8 earned) in five innings of work. Kyle Beach, Andrew Swanson, and Austin Waugh each pitched an inning of relief.
The win moved Madisonville to 23-11 on the season, while Fulton dropped to 11-23.
