The Madisonville Miners defeat the Paducah Chiefs, 8-2

(From Madisonville) The Miners scored six runs in the bottom of the first and Brandon Dusenberry pitched shutout innings to power Madisonville to an 8-2 victory of the Paducah Chiefs on Thursday night.

Madisonville got the scoring going early, plating six runs in their first at bat. After Wesley Birchmeier led off the bottom of the first by reaching base on a hit-by pitch, Genesis Hillard singled and advanced Birchmeier to second. Nolan Ramsey followed with a single, scoring Birchmeier. Chase Hensley then doubled in Hillard. Logan Jarvis drew a walk to load the bases. AfterDominic DeVille struck out looking, Joe McGuinness cleared the bases with a grand slam home run. Josh Finerty lined out, and Austin Sistrunk ended the inning with a fly ball.

Those six runs proved to be more than enough for Brandon Dusenberry, who pitched seven complete scoreless innings to earn his fifth win of the year. Dusenberry scattered four hits, walked one, and struck out five Chiefs. Dylan Ladd pitched a scoreless eighth inning and then gave way to Jack Rettig for the ninth, who gave up a two-run home run to Davis Sims for the only Chief runs of the night.

Paducah starter Cody Clark suffered the loss for the Chiefs, surrendering seven runs (six earned) over six innings of work. Clark allowed seven hits, two walks, and struck out four. Josh Wetzel pitched one scoreless inning, with Michael Klayer pitching the final inning and giving up one earned run.
