The Madisonville Miners defeat the Fulton Railroaders, 8-1

(From Madisonville) The Miners (21-10) extended their winning streak to nine games with an 8-1 victory over the Fulton Railroaders (10-20) Wednesday night at Elmer Kelley Stadium.

The Miners scored one run in the bottom of the first on a Genesis Hillard RBI-single and never looked back from there. Wesley Birchmeier (3-for-4, 3 runs scored) and Hillard (3-for4, 2 RBI, 1 run scored) each picked up three hits to lead the Miners.

Fulton picked up their only run of the game in the top of the ninth inning when Chase Slone doubled in Andrew Holderman to prevent the shutout. Andrew Swanson (2-for5) and Holderman (2-for-4) each collected to hits to lead the Railroaders at the plate.

Justin Whitley drew the start for the Miners and pitched six complete innings, scattering three hits, one walk, and three strikeouts. Mike Ringer and Mitchell Bault took over from there and finished the game. Whitley picked up the Win.

Starter Hunter Smith took the Loss for the Railroaders, with Tyler Magley and Alex Smith also seeing time on the mound.
