The Fulton Railroaders defeat the Hoptown Hoppers, 9-5
From Fulton) The Railroaders overcame the visiting Hoppers and handed Hoptown their third loss on the season. Fulton scored the first run in the second inning only to see Hopkinsville rebound in the third with 5 runs to take a 5-1 lead. The Railroaders quickly answered scoring 3 runs in the bottom half of the third. Trailing by a run, Fulton retook the lead in the fifth by plating 2 runs, then extended their lead with 2 runs in the sixth and one more in the eighth while holding the Hoppers scoreless.
Fulton totaled 12 hits in the game. Tyler Catlett led at the plate going 3-for-4 with a game winning 2 RBI homerun putting the Railroaders ahead to stay. Mason Elliott, 2-for-4 had a 2 RBI double and scored 3 runs. Zach Bishop contributed with 2 RBI.
Hoptown put out 7 hits. Matt Crowder 1-for-3 with 2RBI and one run scored and Grant Robbins went 2-for-3 on the evening.
Tyler Magley picked up the win on the mound starting and going 6 full innings. He gave up 6 hits, 5 runs (2 earned), 2 walks and issued 5 strikeouts. Konnor Aherin went for 2 hitless innings with 3 strikeouts and Hunter Smith finished off the final inning.
Carlos Cespedes takes the loss for Hoptown in middle relief for one inning and giving up the 2 RBI homer and go ahead runs. Starter Zach Denney threw for 3 innings, allowed 4 hits, 4 earned runs, 3 walks and had 2 strikeouts. Tyler Walton followed for one inning with 2 hits and one strikeout. Nick Coffman finished the final 3 innings giving up 2 hits, 3 runs (one earned), 5 walks and had 2 strikeouts.
