The Muhlenberg County Stallions defeat the Fulton Railroaders, 11-9

(From Fulton) The MC Stallions (2-11) had to come from behind twice to beat the Railroaders (4-9) in Fulton on Friday. The Stallions' victory broke a 10 game losing streak and handed the Railroaders a third straight loss. Both teams managed 5 earned runs each giving the Stallions 6 unearned runs to the Railroaders 4 unearned. Errors totals were 4 for MC and 5 for Fulton.

 

The Railroaders jump to a 5-0 lead after two innings. Fulton scored 3 runs in the first off of 3 hits and one MC error followed by a second inning score of 2 runs from 2 hits and a sacrifice fly.

 

Both teams remain scoreless until the top of the seventh when the Stallions broke out to score 6 runs on 5 hits and one Fulton error taking a one run lead. MC added another run in the eighth inning from one hit and another Railroader error to make the score 7-5 in their favor.

 

In the bottom half of the eighth the Railroaders retook the lead scoring 3 runs with 3 hits and one Stallion error. A sacrifice bunt accounting for one run and a 2 RBI homer by Andrew Holderman for the other two. 

 

Top of the ninth the Stallions down by one run loaded the bases with the help from yet another Fulton error. With one out, Curt Yenchik park a shot over right field's "Little Monster" for a grand slam to give the Stallions an 11-8 lead.

 

The Railroaders managed their final run on the bottom of the ninth from 2 hits, not enough for a comeback.

 

The win goes to reliever Nick Watkins for MC as the pitcher of record for throwing the eighth inning and not relieved until the bottom of the ninth after the Stallions took the lead. Alex Peveler picked up a save closing out the ninth. The Stallions Starter Max Hall threw for 7 innings, allowed 5 hits, 5 runs (2 earned), 2 walks and had 5 strikeouts. 

 

Railroader Kyle Beach takes the hard loss for Fulton pitching 2 2/3 innings closing the game with 5 hits, 5 runs (2 earned), 2 walks, and one strikeout. Fulton's starter Tyler Magley went for 6 1/3 innings giving up 9 hits, 6 runs (3 earned), 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.
