(From Dubois County) In a contest that started as a great pitching duel, Zach Gray single-handedly rewrote the script, slugging the Dubois County Bombers to a 4-2 victory last night over the Paducah Chiefs. Gray powered two home runs out of spacious League Stadium, driving in all four Bombers runs.

Matt Munden of New Mexico State University was tabbed by Bomber skipper Andy Lasher for the starting assignment. Munden was the sixth different starting pitcher used by the Bombers in their first 10 games. 

Munden's performance was consistent with the excellent efforts turned in by the Bombers starting mound staff thus far in the season. He struck out seven Chiefs in seven innings, scattering five hits and only allowing one walk.

Brandon Calia had a strong showing as the Chiefs starting pitcher as well, except for two pitches to Gray. Calia retired the first 10 Bombers in order before USI's Logan Brown singled with one out in the fourth inning. That brought Zach Gray to the plate. He by launched a shot over the right-center field wall. It was the first home run hit in League Stadium this season.

Paducah cut the lead to 2-1 in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by Peyton Stockwell. 

Meanwhile, Calia was once again cruising on the hill for the Chiefs, limiting Bombers opportunities. 

Then Gray came to the plate again. Batting with a baserunner aboard via a Paducah error, Gray caromed a sixth inning shot off of the electronic scoreboard behind the right-field fence to give the home team a 4-1 lead.

Dalton Mitchell doubled and Cole Womack followed with a one-out single in the eighth inning to score another Paducah run, bringing the score to the final margin of 4-2.

St. Joseph's College teammates Kyle Matter and Kevin Forde pitched the eighth and ninth innings respectively for Dubois County, preserving the victory.

In a game that took just a few minutes over two hours to play, the Chiefs outhit the Bombers 7-5, but the two home runs by Gray proved the difference. 

Womack had two hits to lead the Chiefs offense.

Munden gets credit for the win (1-0). Calia falls to 1-2. The save is Forde's second.

The Bombers improve to 8-2. Paducah falls to 2-9.
