The Fulton Railroaders defeat the Muhlenberg County Stallions, 2-1

(From Fulton) The home team Fulton Railroaders edged out over the visiting Muhlenberg Stallions to open the 2016 season with a win. With 4 hits for each team, the difference came down to a 2 RBI homerun by Fulton over a solo homerun by Muhlenberg. 

 

The Railroaders scoring came first in the second inning with a lead off single by Nick Shuemaker. Matt Meihls followed with homer over the left field Little Monster at Lohaus Field. 

 

The game remained scoreless until the top of the ninth inning. With 2 outs and no one on base, Curt Yenchik sent his solo shot over Little Monster for the Stallions' only score.

 

Starter Seth Hougensen takes the win for Fulton going 7 innings on the mound with no runs allowed, giving up one walk and striking out 9 batters. Alex Smith closed the final 2 innings with one earned run, no walks and 2 strikeouts to earn a save. 

 

Mulhenberg's starter Grant Wallace takes the loss for 4 innings pitched, giving up only 2 hits for 2 earned runs, one walk and 3 strikeouts.
