The Madisonville Miners defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 4-3

(From Madisonville) The Miners swept Monday night's doubleheader against the Oilers, winning Game One 4-3 in extra innings and winning Game Two 9-1 in seven.
     The wins snap a three-game losing streak by the Miners (19-14) and move Madisonville to within 3.5 games of first-place Dubois County and only 0.5 games behind second-place Fulton. The two losses extend the Oiler losing streak to three games and drop Owensboro (9-24) 13.5 games back.
     Game One: The Miners jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, scoring one run in each of the first two innings. Owensboro got on the board with three runs in the top of the 4th and held the lead 3-2 until Madisonville tied the game 3-3 in the bottom of the 5th inning.
     The game stayed tied through seven innings and ended in the second extra inning when Matt Walsh drove in Nolan Ramsey for the game-winning run with a double to deep center field.
     Brooks Benson went 2-for-3 with two RBI, with Connor Moss driving in the other Miner run. Nolan Ramsey also chipped in, going 2-for-5 with two runs scored. EJ Watson and JD Minor scored the other two Miner runs.
     Wesley Birchmeier pitched two shut out innings following starter Cameron Smith and picked up the win. Smith pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on six hits with three Ks and one BB.
     Chase Randolph took the loss for the Oilers, pitching the final 2.67 innings and allowing the winning run to cross the plate. Oiler starter Damon Davis went five innings before giving way to Ryan Flores, who pitched the scoreless 6th inning.
     Ty Broady led the Oilers at the plate, batting 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run scored. Alfredo Bohorques went 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Riley Benner went 2-for-3 with a run scored. Drew Bene picked up an RBI while going 0-for-4.
