The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Hoptown Hoppers, 7-2

(From Owensboro) The Owensboro Oilers scored first in Game 2 with 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Riley Benner walked and Braxton Morris singled. They and Jake Wilson scored on Wilson's 3-RBI home run over the right field fence. The Oilers added two more in the bottom of the 3rd inning Tyler Tichenor singled and Benner reached on an error. Tichenor scored on an RBI single by Morris. Then Wilson was hit by a pitch, and Benner scored as Tyler Shewmaker reached on a RBI fielder's choice. After three complete innings the Oilers led 5 to 0.
     Hopkinsville scored one run in the top of the 4th inning. With two outs, Bo Coolen walked, he advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Coolen scored from second base as Mitch Gallagher reached safely on a two-base error.
     Owensboro responded by adding a run of its own back in the bottom of the 4th inning. With one out, Ben Rhodes singled, he stole second base. Rhodes scored from third base on a RBI single from Benner. The Oilers added one run in the bottom of the 6th inning. Conner McHugh reached on an error, then advanced to second base, scoring on a RBI single by Alfredo Bohorques.
     The Hoppers got one more run in the top of the 7th inning. With two outs, Ernie de la Trinidad singled. He advanced to second base by defensive indifference. John Davis then reached safely on an error that allowed De la Trinidad to score. Hopkinsville came no closer in Game 2 than the 7 to 2 final score.
     The Game 2 win goes to Oilers starter Ryan Flores, who went all 7 innings pitched, giving up the 2 runs -- both unearned. The loss falls to Hopkinsville starter Zach Denney.
