The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Dubois County Bombers, 10-2
(From Fulton) The second place Railroaders (9-7) gained a game on the first place Bombers (11-6) with an overpowering victory in Fulton. The Railroaders used 10 hits and 6 errors to help with the 10-2 win while the Bombers could only managed 2 hits in the game.
Fulton choose to to use 9 players without a designated hitter with Kyle Uhrich making his first appearance on the mound for the Railroaders.
The Railroaders scored first with one run in the 1st inning. Kipp Moore (1-for-3) doubled to drive in Griffin Neuer who lead off with single and had advanced to 2nd on an error.
The Bombers quickly answered in the 2nd with a lead off solo home run by Drake McNamara (2-for-3) to tie the game at one each.
Fulton retook the lead in the 3rd inning with no hits using 2 walks, 2 hit-by-pitch batters and a ground out to make the score 3-1.
The Bombers answered once more in the top of the 4rh getting one run from a sacrifice fly by Greg Jones scoring Nick Gobert, who'd reached third from a walk, advanced on a hit batter and a balk. The score now 3-2 in favor of Fulton.
The Railroaders began to pull away in the bottom half of the 4th. Clayton Conner singled (2-for-4) and scored from an error that got Brad Baldwin on base. Baldwin then crossed home off a Tyler Hilton (2-for-3) single. The score now stood at 5-2.
Fulton piled on 3 more runs in the 6th inning using 2 hits, a sac fly and taking advantage of 3 Bomber errors. The Railroaders followed up in the 7th inning with a 2 RBI homer off the bat of Tyler Hilton, completing the score 10-2.
The win goes to Griffin Neuer who pitch 2 1/3 innings in relief. He allowed one hit, no walks and struck out 3 batters. Starter Kyle Uhrich gave up one hit, 2 runs (one earned) and had 8 strikeouts for 4 2/3 innings, just one out short of 5 innings required for a starter's win. Kyle Estand completed the game for Fulton throwing for the final 2 innings with no hits or walks and 3 strikeouts.
Starter Willie Poe takes the loss for Dubois County for 4 innings giving up 5 hits, 5 runs (2 earned), 2 walks and had 4 strikeouts. Zachary Aring, Jay Prior, and Derek Flaugher combined to finish the remainder of the game for the Bombers.
