The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 6-3
(From Fulton) The Hoptown Hoppers used seven hits and six Railroader errors to win game two in the second round and advance on to the final championship round, the loss ends Fulton's 2014 season play.
The Hoppers scored one in the 3rd innings, added two more in the 4th and another in the 5th to take a 4-0 lead. The Railroader finally got going in the bottom of the 5th and put up 3 runs to make it a one run game. Hoptown scored two more insurance runs, one each in the 7th and 9th innings for the final.
Hoptown starter Evan Tidwell earned the win on the mound for seven innings. Tidwell retired the first 10 batters before finally allowing a Railroader runner to reach base on his only walk in the game. He gave up 4 hits afterward and had four strikeout. Trevor Blocker finished the last 1 1/3 innings giving up only one hit and had two strikeouts, he picks up the save..
Taking the hard loss for Fulton was starter Dylan Smith who pitched for five innings allowing 5 hits, tagged for 4 runs (3 earned), no walks and one strikeout.
The Hoppers will play the Oilers on Monday in Hopkinsville to begin the final round of the post season playoffs.
