The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Dubois County Bombers, 7-2

(From Dubois County). In 10 innings. The Dubois County Bombers battled the league-leading Owensboro Oilers toe-to-toe for nine innings last night. The game was so closely contested that it required extra innings to determine the winner. The Oilers demonstrated in that 10th inning why they are in first place. Owensboro hit better, pitched better, and fielded better in the deciding inning. Although the Bombers never trailed in the regulation nine innings, they ultimately fell to the Oilers in front of a crowd of 1439 on Little League Night by a final score of 7-2.
The Bombers scored first, Joe Sturino driving in Caleb Lonkard in the first inning.
Owensboro's Alfredo Bohorquez singled in Austin Cessna in the third to tie the game at one apiece.
Dubois County regained the lead in the fourth when Lonkard brought Rick Linton home.
Once again, Owensboro knotted the affair in the fifth, Bohorquez with another RBI.
The game remained even through nine innings.
Then the 10th came and everything changed. With one out and two Oilers on base, Braxton Brinkley singled to right. Bombers right fielder Joe Sturino came up firing and cut down Oiler pinch runner Cameron Wallace at the plate. It looked like the Bombers might escape the rally.
But it was a case of, "Out of the frying pan and into the fire…"
Harold Diaz rounded the bases on an infield single combined with two Bomber throwing errors, all on the same play. Two runners scored in front of him, putting Owensboro up 5-2. That was followed by a triple, a pair of walks, and a hit batter resulting in two more Oiler tallies, producing the final score of 7-2.
Mark Chemello, the league's co-leader in saves came out of the Oiler bullpen to retire the Bombers in order in the bottom of the 10th to preserve the win.
Caleb Johnson collected the win for the Oilers. Jacob Murray takes the loss.
Harold Diaz led the Oiler attack four singles. Justin Cessna chipped in a triple and a single. Alfredo Bohorquez, Christian McHatton, and Braxton Brinkley had a pair of hits apiece.
Sturino and Lonkard each had a pair of base hits for the Bombers.
The Bombers season record falls to 18-20. They remain a game and a half behind Fulton for third place. Owensboro is now 24-12. They continue to maintain a 2 ½ game advantage over Hopkinsville. Game summary pending
