The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 9-6

(From Fulton)  Five Railroader errors aided the Hoppers with 7 unearned runs to beat Fulton at home on Saturday.  The Hoppers jumped to a 3-1 lead after the first inning of play.  The Railroaders chipped back into the game with a single run in the 3rd and 4th innings to tie the game at 3 all.  In the bottom of the 5th the Railroaders scored two runs to take a 5-3 lead only to see the Hoppers add three runs in each of the 6th and 7th innings.  The Railroaders managed another run in the 8th for the final 9-6 score.

     Talyor Ellis lead Hoptown at the plate going 3 of 4, one RBI and scored 3 times.  He was followed by Mitchell Gallagher (one score) and Ben Rodriquez (two scores) who were both 2 for 4 at bat.  

     For Fulton's 6 earned runs in the game; Jeremiah Spring was 2 of 4 with 3 RBI, with both Greg Fettes and Reed Johnson getting solo homeruns in the effort.

     The game was won and lost in the field of play.  The Hoppers played error free throughout the game while the Railroaders struggled to handle the ball.  Two of  5 total errors resulted in 4 runs of the 7 total unearned runs allowed.

     Brady Walsh gets the win for Hoptown going the first 5 innings and then relieved from starting the bottom of the 6th.  He allowed 6 hits, 5 earned runs, a walk and had 2 strikeouts.  Trevor Blocker earned another save closing out the final 1 1/3 innings. Fulton's starter Justin Vernia suffers the loss for 6 innings on the mound, giving up 6 hits, tagged for 6 runs (one earned), walked zero batters and had 6 strikeouts.
