The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Hoptown Hoppers, 10-5

(From Owensboro)  The Owensboro Oilers played host to the visiting Hopkinsville team Sunday evening and topped the Hoppers by a final score of 10 to 5 in the home team's favor.
The overall scoring started mildly enough with the Oilers scoring one run in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Scoring was Christian McHatton (double), eventually driven in by Justin Cessna's RBI fielder's choice. Owensboro added one more run in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Braxton Brinkley led off with a single, and he was still there to come all the way in to score on a two-out RBI double by Tyler Rachel. At the end of three complete, the Oilers were up 2 to 0.
Back came the Hoppers, scoring two runs in the top of the 4th inning. Parker Cash led off with a walk, and Chris Carrier was hit by pitch following him. Both runner moved up on a groundout. Taylor Blair singled to collect the two RBIs that were Cash and Carrier. Now the game was tied at 2 to 2.
Owensboro responded by scoring eight runs in the home portion of the same inning. Scoring in the inning were: McHatton [twice] (singled); Cessna (walked); Taylor Mathews (singled, RBI for McHatton); Alfredo Bohorques (hit by pitch); Jake Wilson (hit by pitch); Rachel (single, RBIs for Mathews and Bohorques); and Harold Diaz (walk). In addition to scoring in the inning, McHatton drove in Wilson and Rachel. Though they did not score, Brinkley's sacrifice fly had brought in Cessna and Dalton West's 2 RBI double plated McHatton the second time around, as well as Diaz. At the end of of four complete, what had been a tense tie was now a completely different kind of game at 10 to 2 for the Oilers.
The Hoppers rallied for three runs over their next five at-bats. Jeffery Kramer led off the top of the 6th inning with a single, and eventually scored from third base on a RBI sacrifice fly by Blair. Hopkinsville added two more runs in the top of the 7th inning. Mitchell Gallagher and Meade Kendrick opened the visitor inning with back to back singles, but Kendrick was out attempting to take second base. Gallagher scored on an RBI single from Kramer. Kramer moved on to second base as Bubba Olivera walked. Kramer scored on a wild pitch before consecutive strikeouts ended the Hoppers scoring. The resulting 10 to 5 score stood to become final.
Oilers starter Cable Wright went 5.67 winning innings to lead a platoon of Owensboro hurlers in holding on to the lead staked out for them. Hoppers starter Korie Vine was tagged 8 runs on 9 hits in 3.67 innings, and took the loss.
