The Dubois County Bombers defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 5-4
In 8 innings. (From Dubois County) The first game of the twinbill was a seesaw affair. The Bombers scored in the bottom of the third on a bases-loaded walk to Glenn Jones by Railroader starting pitcher Cole Schaenzer. Tyler Nichols relieved Schaenzer and the Railroaders escaped the inning without further damage.
The Railroaders immediately answered in the top of the fourth. Greg Fettes and Trevor Hicks both doubled in runs to give the visitors at 2-1 advantage.
Dubois County regained the lead with a pair of runs in the fifth, keyed by an RBI single off the bat of Dane Giesler and a sacrifice fly by Tirey Burch. Nick Barrientos singled drove in Jacob Lightle in the sixth to extend the Bombers lead to 4-2.
The Railroaders rallied for a pair of runs in the seventh inning. Zach Bailey singled. Troy Squires tripled, and Dayton Rausch followed with a sacrifice fly to even the game. The Bombers failed to answer in the bottom of the frame, so the scheduled seven inning affair continued on.
Dru Sebastian came out of the pen to retire the Railroaders in order in the top of the eighth. Daniel Goff walked two batters in the bottom of the frame before tossing a wild pitch, allowing the potential winning run to reach third-base. He was then removed, in favor of John Lollar who intentionally walked Glenn Jones to load the bases. Nick Gobert drove a single into shallow centerfield to give the Bombers their final 5-4 advantage.
Sebastian collected the win. Goff takes the loss. It was the first decision for both.
