The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Dubois County Bombers, 10-3
(From Owensboro) The home standing Owensboro Oilers won their Tuesday night game hosting the visiting Dubois County Bombers. The final score was Bombers 3 to Oilers 10.
Owensboro set the tone for their offense in the game early by opening the scoring with six runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Scoring were Kyle Floyd (walked -- scored on an error); Christian McHatton (singled -- scored on a passed ball); Dalton West (reached on an error -- batted in); Justin Cessna (walked -- batted in); Cameron Wallace (bunted on -- batted in RBI for West); and Braxton Brinkley (walked --batted in). Alfredo Bohorques was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to RBI the hard way for Cessna's run. Jake Krupar followed with a 2 RBI groundout that plated both Wallace and Brinkley. At the end of two innings the home team led 6 to 0.
The visitors rallied mid game, scoring three runs total in the tops of the 4th and 5th innings to cut the home lead in half. Dubois County scored twice in the the top of the 4th. Glenn Jones led off by reaching on an error. Joe Sturino followed and was hit by a pitch. Jones and Sturino executed a double steal of third base and second base respectively. Jones scored on a RBI groundout by Kaleb King. Sturino came around on an RBI double from Rick Linton. In the top of the 5th, the Bombers added one more run. Tanner Wood opened the Bomber frame with a double. One of two fly outs later had advanced him to third base. He scored from there on a passed ball. As the game became passed the halfway mark the Oiler lead was only 6 to 3.
Owensboro responded with one run in its own 5th inning. With two outs West tripled and Cessna RBI tripled behind him. The Oilers added two more runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. This time West doubled and Cessna followed with a walk. Wallace delivered a 2 RBI double of his own -- extending the lead to six runs again. Finally, Owensboro capped the evening at the plate with one run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Bohorques led off the inning with a single. One out later, a walk moved him along to second base. Bororques reached third base on a force out at second base. Austin Bartle, who entered the game as a defensive substitution, batted Bohorques in by reaching on a fielders choice. The Oilers maintained a scoreless top of the 9th behind reliever Jake Wilson to secure the 10 to 3 final.
Owensboro starter Tanner Edge picked up the win while Dubois County starter Brian Wichman got the loss.
