The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Madisonville Miners, 6-1
(From Owensboro) The hosting Owensboro Oilers won their Sunday night game against the visiting Madisonville Miners. The final score was Oilers 6 to Miners 1.
Madisonville opened the scoring with their only run of the game in the top of the 1st inning. With one out, Nick Calandra singled. A strikeout later, Cory Finkler doubled. Calandra scored, but Finkler was tagged out attempting to take third base to end the inning. The score remained 1 to 0 in the Miners favor through three and a half innings of play.
Owensboro rallied to take the lead with two runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. Alfredo Bohorques led off the inning with a single. He stole second base, then moved to third base on a wild pitch. Bohorques scored on an RBI single by Jake Wilson. A strikeout later, Wilson advanced to second base on a groundout. An RBI single by Christian McHatton drove Wilson around to score. The game held 2 to 1 in the home favor until the Oilers added four more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. In the inning, McHatton led off with a single. A sacrifice bunt pushed him along to second base, and he stole third base. Pinch-hitter Jake Krupar walked, as did Austin Bartles behind him to load the bases. Braxton Brinkley came through with a 2 RBI single, plating McHatton and Krupar. Bartles and Brinkley stole third base and second base respectively. With two outs Tyler Rachel laced a 2 RBI triple to bring both advance runner across. The resulting 6 to 1 score favoring Owensboro was the final.
Owensboro starter Sam Higgs worked 7.33 innings of 4-hit, 1-run ball for the win. Miners starter Jackson Everman gave up only two runs in 4.67 innings, but took the loss.
