The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 9-1
(From Hopkinsville). Hoptown Hoppers starter Ryan Mossman and reliever Geordie Carlson combined for a one-hitter tonight in the Hoppers' 9-1 win over Fulton, closing out their four-game homestand with a 4-0 record, improving to 6-0 on the season.
Mossman (1-0) went five innings, allowing one earned run on one hit, a single by Andy Young in the second inning. Mossman also struck out two and walked four.
Carlson picked up his first save of the Ohio Valley League season, allowing no runs on no hits, striking out three and walking one in four innings.
Fulton (1-3) scored first in the game when Riley Benner drew a two-out walk, went to third on a failed pickoff attempt and scored on Young's single to give the Railroaders an early 1-0 lead.
Hoptown took the lead with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, then plated a run in the third inning, three in the fourth and two in the seventh.
Parker Cash led the Hoppers at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Michael Haun, Meade Kendrick and John Davis each got two hits for Hoptown.
Hoptown now begins a five-game road swing, returning to Colonel Field in Hopkinsville on June 13 against Dubois County.
