The Madisonville Pirates defeated the Dubois County Bombers, 1-0
In 10 innings. In front of a sellout crowd of 2,289 fans at League Stadium, the Pirates (13-13) and Bombers (14-13) went the extra leg to find a winner. It was the Pirates who came out victorious, 1-0 in 10 innings. Samuel Gilbert walked to start the 10th and was later driven home on what would be the game-winning hit on Dathan Prewett's RBI double.
The Bombers got another fantastic outing from the starting pitching. Tonight it was Kyle Briner, who pitched eight scoreless innings, on five strikeouts, one walk and five hits. Briner would have to settle for the no-decision as he, unfortunately, got zero runs in return. Pirate starter, Aaron Mason matched Briner's performance as both pitchers limited each team to minimal production. Mason threw seven very solid innings, holding the Bomber bats scoreless on three hits, striking out two and walking three. In the end it was the bullpens that stole the show. Pirate reliever, Josh Drake got the win, hanging on to the, 1-0 lead in the 10th. Clint Chestnut relieved for the Bombers and took the loss after giving up a earned run in the 10th inning.
In the batters' box the Bombers were quiet, only producing five hits in 10 innings. Shain Showers was the only Bomber to record more than one hit as he finished with two hits for the game. Eric McKibban, Bo Ausmus, and Hamilton Carr had the other hits for the Bombers. Robert Veltre and Dathan Prewett each had two hits to lead the hitting for the Pirates and it was Prewett who drove the game's only run home. Alfredo Bohorquez, and Gooch Greer rounded out the Pirate offense with a hit each. The Pirates had six hits for the game.
