The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Hoptown Hoppers, 4-1
(From Fulton) The Fulton Railroaders (13-10) extended their streak of wins to 8 after defeating the Hoptown Hoppers (15-8), and evened the season series 3-3 between the two teams. Fulton retained and at present holds sole possession of 2nd in the standings, and now 2 games behind 1st Hoptown.
The Railroaders struck first with one run in the 1st with Michael Diaz walking and scoring off a Colton Simbeck double. Fulton added two more in the 2nd as Taylor Stoulp hit a two out clutch single for 2 RBI. Both teams remained scoreless until 6th when the Railroaders added their fourth run from a lead off solo homer by Michael Diaz.
The Hoppers finally scored their only run the 7th inning. Mitch Huckabay doubled to lead off the innings, was batted to third then scored on a passed ball.
Fulton's run production was down from recent games as their 13 totals hits scored only 3 earned runs and stranded 12 men on base. Hoptown managed 4 hits and left 7 runners on base.
Both starters are pitchers of record with Garrett Ring picking up his 3 win, pitching 8 innings with 4 strikeouts, 2 walks and no earned runs. Kyle Barbee takes the loss for Hoptown for 5 1/3 innings allowing 11 hits, tagged for 4 runs (3 earned), 3 walks and striking out 3 at the plate. Railroader Caleb Shelly earned his 4th save on the season. Hoptown relievers were Trevor Blocker for 2 innings and Dustin Tuck for 2/3 of an inning.
