The Hoptown Hoppers defeated the Madisonville Pirates, 8-3
In 11 innings. The Hoppers busted out of a stalemate game with 5 runs in the final inning to win over the Pirates at Riverside Park in Dawson Springs.
Hoptown scored first in the 2nd with one run in a 4 error inning that saw no hits. Tradewater came back scoring one run the 3rd with no hits using a batter hit by pitch, advanced with a sac bunt, and getting him home on a passed ball and wild pitch. Both teams scored 2 runs each in the fourth inning and the game remained tied 3-3 until the 11th inning. The Hoppers finally broke the deadlock putting up 5 runs using a Pirate error and 5 hits that included a ground rule double by Brad Sevenish and a Brett Pirtle 2 RBI triple. The Pirates went quickly in the bottom of the 11th on two groundouts and a flyout.
The Hoppers totaled 9 hits bested by Pirtle and Sevenish both going 2 of 5, Pirtle getting 3 RBI and Sevenish scoring twice. The Pirates managed 4 hits with only Kyle Neimeier getting the only RBI for Tradewater.
Jason McDonald earned the win pitching the final 3 innings, and Corey Ames took the loss throwing the final 2 innings for Madisonville.
