The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Tradewater Pirates, 4-3
In 8 innings. The Railroaders swept the doubleheader with the Pirates and gained a game on the leading Oilers who split their doubleheader with the Bobcats on Thursday. In game 1, both teams where held scoreless through 6 innings until the Pirates finally struck with 2 runs when David Zorn doubled for 2 RBIs giving Tradewater a 2-0 lead. The Railroaders responded in the bottom of the 7th loading the bases then got a walk-in run and second from a Mike Pudle RBI single. The scheduled 7 inning game went into the 8th tied at 2 all. In the top of the 8th, Tradewater took a 1 run lead with Derrek Etsell reaching on a single then scoring from an Eric Silokowski single. Bottom half of the inning, Brandon Eggenschwler lead off with a walk followed by a bunt single by Rob Hogenkamp. Joe Mike walked to load the bases bringing Colton Speed to the plate for Fulton. The offense hit-and-run call resulted in a high infield chopper from Speed who reached 1st safely as the defense tried too late to cut Egeenschwiler at home plate. A throw back to 1st allowed Rob Hogenkamp to break for home after rounding 3rd and score the winning runs sliding around the tag. Roman Kelly started the game for Fulton going 7 innings striking out 6, 2 walks and 2 earned runs, and left the game tied. Aaron Chez Shaw picks up the win throwing the 8th as pitcher of record. Tradewater's starter Kyle Thomas takes the loss.
