The Owensboro Oilers defeated the Tradewater Pirates, 5-1
Tradewater Loses To Owensboro Before Huge Madisonville Crowd At Elmer Kelley. Steve Fowler made sure his return to Elmer Kelley Stadium in Madisonville was memorable, as his Owensboro Oilers used classic Pirate Ball to defeat his former team, by the count of 5-1. Once again, the Pirates were on the run most of the game, attempting to catch a more aggressive team, as Owensboro put the pressure on the Pirates right from the get-go. Cody Williams pitched a three hitter for the Oilers, who kept the Pirates at bay all night. The Bucs threatened on several occasions, but watched the Oilers increase their lead consistently, putting the game out of reach in the late innings. Calyn Young took the loss for Tradewater, who sunk deeper in the standings with the loss. The game marked the return of Bill Pace to the Pirate lineup, as the designated hitter.
