In Game 1 the Oilers scored first with one run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Ryan Stephens led off with a single and eventually scored on an RBI single by Bo Younker. The Railroaders scored three runs in the top of the 3rd inning. With one out Zach Bailey singled, Mikee Moore doubled, and David Simmons walked to load the bases. An RBI single by Rob Hogenkamp scored Bailey. One strikeout later, a bases loaded RBI walk to Brandon Eggerschwiler plated Moore. Simmons also scored on a RBI single by Brock Downey. However, Owensboro scored three runs in the bottom half of the same inning to re-claim a 4-3 lead. Once again, Ryan Stephens led off -- with a double. One out later, a single by Ty Stetson set up a first and third base situation. With two outs, Davey Murphy was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Brent Weinzapfel delivered with a 2-RBI single scoring Stephens and Stetson. Eric Barnes RBI doubled to drive in Murphy as the last run of the Oilers inning. The score of Game 1 held at 4-3 Oilers until the top of the 7th when the Fulton took the lead with two unearned runs. Moore led off the frame with a single. He stole second and third bases. An errant throw attempting to put him out at third base allowed him to score the tying run. With two out, Tyler O'Daniel reached on an error, and gave way to pinch-runner Mike Pudlo. Pudlo advanced to second base on another error, and scored on a single by Eggenschwiler, for another RBI. Owensboro managed one base runner in the bottom of the 7th inning but a force out and two fly balls ended the game in Fulton's favor, 5 to 4. Fulton starter BJ Sieverding got the win and Tate Glasscock earned the save. Owensboro reliever Zach Krebs took the loss.
