The Marion Bobcats defeated the Owensboro Oilers, 3-1

Marion proved a poor host on Wednesday for former manager of the Bobcats, Steve Fowler. Fowler, now heading the Owensboro Oilers (5-4), was met with a 3-1 defeat in his first trip to Guess Field as the opposing skipper.  With the win, Marion (7-3) held on to first place and increased their lead over second-place Owensboro by a full game. The Oilers will be looking to return the favor Thursday and whittle away A 1.5-game gap when the Bobcats play visitor.  Leadoff hitter A.J. Dokey did his job for Marion, going 2-for-4 and scoring one of Marion's runs. On the mound, Zach Hall (1-1) erased memories his Opening Night loss by pitching eight innings, striking out 12 and allowing only four hits. Matt Vollenweider closed out the game for his league-leading fifth save.
