The Fulton Railroaders defeated the Tradewater Pirates, 8-6
In 13th inning. Traderwater summary: Fulton threatened to give the game away early, as the Pirates raced out to an early lead, only to see the Railroaders claw back. The Pirates fell behind by the count of 5-4, but managed to tie the game at 5-5, and that's where it stayed until the top of the 13th, when a Herculean effort by reliever George Kalousek finally fell apart, when the Roaders scored three big runs. So, heading to the bottom of the 13th, the Pirates managed several runners, and one run, to close to 8-6. But a groundout/forceout at second ended the Pirate rally, and Fulton picks up win number one in 2011. Kyle Thomas pitched well, but gave way to Keita Murakami, and then normally short reliever George Kalousek, who held the Roaders at bay several times, with superb pitching and a little help from his friends. All for naught, though, as the Bucs suffer loss number one in the young season. After several road contests, the Buccos return home Sunday for a 5pm double dip with the Marion Bobcats.
